I'm amazed that a scanner can do that.

I checked by the US Mint site a few hours ago and my order shows as "backorder expected to ship on Sept 24". I really hope I manage to get one, those are nice.

But that's what it said about my 20th Anniversary set too.

Article about the OS date notation on the reverse

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Sty...ew_Style_dates

Old Style and New Style dates

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Old Style (or OS) and New Style (or NS) is used in English language historical studies either to indicate that the start of the Julian year has been adjusted to start on 1 January (NS) even though contemporary documents use a different start of year (OS); or to indicate that a date conforms to the Julian calendar (OS), formerly in use in many countries, rather than the Gregorian calendar (NS).[1][2][3][4]

My uncirculated arrived today, the proof has been billed to my credit card and should arrive next week. They are attractive, but I've yet to meet an unattractive gold coin:D

I just got confirmation that my uncirculated shipped and now it's saying my proof is reserved and will ship soon. I ordered them a full 24 hours after they went on sale so I think a lot of people must have cancelled.

The Proof I can leave in USMINT celivered box unopened (for grading purposes)if so desired.

I wish to offer it here at GIM.

If there are no takers I will put them on ebay.

I am not interested in making a killing, so make an offer by PM.....I paid $850 ttl for the both of them.....Anyone?

There is a dealer ad in Coin World magazine offering $550 each. I may have thrown the issue away already. I will have to look around to see if I still have it.

Re: Jefferson"s Liberty GOLD arrived today

this is supposed to be favorite because Jefferson was the only unmarried President. Lady Liberty of the early bust variety adorns the reverse.

Very collectible coin ya got there wil.

Jefferson was married but a widower at the time of office. Buchanan was a bachelor all his life.

Dunno , but rumor had it he was very close to the man who was , coincidentally , our only bachelor Vice President , William Rufus King. So maybe something along the lines of this for the obverse?:

:haha::haha::haha:

Seriously though, the list RossL posted shows "James Buchanan's Liberty" , so probably something similar to that of Jefferson's? Just guessing.

By the way,

The pics that I have seen of the Dolley Madison gold coin are a big letdown compared to the silver dollar commem issue from 1999.

From what I have read in Coin World, the 4 Liberty obverse versions will be different.

I couldn't find that Coin World from two weeks ago that had the dealer ad offer to buy the gold Jeff Liberty coins. The current issue doesn't have the ad.

Ross,
Do you have a new scanner or are you learning the tricks to using your old one? I would have been proud to have taken that picture. The detail and sharpness are very high plus the image is quite nicely high-lighted.
